Amazing! Well done to all the Dauntsey’s pupils who took part. There was some very rough weather and lots of hard work needing a lot of grit and determination by the 30 plus pupils involved.
Skipper Toby Maris kept followers up to date via the Jolie Brise Facebook page with exciting updates such as these:
After 7 days of fantastic sailing, beautiful sunsets, amazing weather and multiple sightings of dolphins, sharks, flying fish and even whales, we are fast approaching the finish line off the coast of Lisbon! “
The last few days have been tense as we have been trading first and second place with Statsraad Lehmkuhl so its all hands on deck as we enter the last crucial hours of the race.”
Very exciting second race leg. JB currently is 2nd in class and 2nd overall. About 10 miles to go to the finish line and she's going much faster than the race leader! They need to beat Straatsd Lemechel to get the overall win for Tall Ships 2016 and she is just behind them!”
A huge well done to the skipper and Dauntsey’s crew for this amazing result.
